Cricket's three formats and major tournaments

In cricket betting, T20, ODI and Test each have a different nature, so the approach to betting differs as well.

T20: In this format of up to 20 overs, results can shift quickly. A big over or a fast wicket can change the momentum of the whole match. BPL and IPL are the most popular tournaments in this format. When the Bangladesh Tigers are playing, T20 matches draw particularly strong interest in Bangladesh.

ODI: This fifty-over format balances pace and planning. The ICC Cricket World Cup and bilateral series are the key events for ODI betting.

Test: This five-day format features extended battles between batters and bowlers. A draw is a possible outcome, so the markets are different — it is not just win or lose, a draw is also a result.

ck22 material also has strong markets for football betting — see the football betting guide for details.

Football and other sports

Alongside cricket, ck22 material has a separate dedicated section for football betting, covering goal markets, handicap betting, and live betting in detail. Football matches finish within 90 minutes, draws are possible, and odds change instantly after each goal — a different experience from cricket's over-by-over pace.

Popular cricket betting markets

Every match offers many types of bets. Below are the 6 most commonly used markets, each with a straightforward example.

Match Winner

A bet on which team will win the match. In T20 or ODI there are only two outcomes — Team A or Team B. Example: Team A at odds 1.65 — a ৳500 bet returns ৳825 if Team A wins.

Most familiar

Toss Winner

A bet on which team will win the toss. The outcome is decided by the toss alone, not the match result. Example: you win the bet if Team B wins the toss in a T20 match.

Quick result

Top Batsman

A bet on which batsman will score the most runs in an innings or across the whole match. Example: you win if a specific batting-position player from Team A scores the most runs.

Stats-based

Total Runs Over / Under

A bet on whether the total runs in an innings or a match will be more (over) or less (under) than a set number. Example: whether a T20 innings will go over 160 runs.

Available for both teams

Multi Bet

Combining selections from multiple matches into a single bet. All selections must win for you to collect. Example: three matches at odds 1.40, 1.50, and 1.70 — combined odds 3.57, a ৳100 bet returns ৳357 — but if one loses, the entire ৳100 is lost.

Higher risk

Top Wicket-Taker

A bet on which bowler will take the most wickets in an innings or match. Example: you win if Team B's pace bowler takes the most wickets in the match.

Bowling market

Odds in three formats — decimal, fractional and American

Cricket betting odds are usually written in three formats. All three express the same probability — only the way they are written differs. The two examples below, read carefully, will make the difference clear.

Example Decimal Fractional American
Team A to win (৳500 stake) 2.25 5/4 +125
Team B to win (৳500 stake) 1.25 1/4 -400

Example 1 — betting on Team A to win: Decimal 2.25 means you get ৳2.25 back for every ৳1 staked. A ৳500 bet returns a total of ৳1,125 if Team A wins — that includes ৳625 profit and your original ৳500 stake back. Fractional 5/4 and American +125 say the same thing in a different way. If Team A does not win, you lose ৳500.

Example 2 — favourite Team B: Decimal 1.25 means a smaller potential profit. A ৳500 bet returns ৳625 if Team B wins — a profit of only ৳125. American minus odds (-400) show how much you need to stake to make ৳100 profit.

Live in-play betting — odds shift when a wicket falls

ck22 material live odds on an in-play betting screen

In-play or live betting means you can place bets after the match has started. In cricket this feature is particularly useful, because the situation changes constantly as the game progresses.

When a wicket falls or runs come quickly in a powerplay, odds update immediately. Say Team A has scored 90 runs in 15 overs and a wicket has just fallen — Team A's odds of winning may rise or fall depending on the ball-by-ball situation.

Live betting in Test matches is more complex, because a great deal can change over five days. A shift in pitch behaviour on day three, or a rain delay, will be reflected in the odds.

Wicket falls — odds update
End of over — run rate calculated
Powerplay — rapid changes
Rain — betting suspended

It is worth knowing the betting rules before live betting — read the terms and conditions.

Practical tips for cricket betting

Betting is a form of entertainment. Keeping the following points in mind will make the experience more disciplined.

01

Choose markets that suit the format

Total runs markets can work well in T20; match winner or innings-specific markets work differently in Test cricket.

02

Set a budget

Decide on a fixed amount for each match or each week in advance, and try not to spend beyond that.

03

Be careful with multi bets

Combined odds are higher in a multi bet, but one losing selection means you lose everything — so keeping fewer selections is the sensible approach.

04

Be patient with live betting

You do not need to make a decision after every ball. Waiting for the situation to settle a little before placing a bet lets you read the odds more clearly.

05

Treat it as entertainment

Betting is not a reliable source of income — enjoy it as part of the game. Do not chase losses by placing more bets.

06

Follow responsible gaming guidelines

If needed, read the responsible gaming guidelines and set your own limits.

Frequently asked questions

No, the types of markets differ by format. In T20 and ODI you can find markets for total runs, powerplay score, or runs in a specific over. In Test cricket there are markets for innings results, first innings lead, and three-way outcomes including a draw. It is worth understanding the rules of each format before you start betting.

Decimal 2.25 means you get ৳2.25 back for every ৳1 staked — a profit of ৳1.25. On a ৳500 bet, if Team A wins your total return is ৳1,125 (৳625 profit + your original ৳500 stake). The same odds are written as 5/4 in fractional format and +125 in American format — all three express the same odds.

Most major markets — match winner, over runs, number of wickets — are available for live betting. However, some special markets are only available before the match starts. Odds may update for a short period when a wicket falls or an over changes — betting may be paused briefly during that time.

If a match is partially or fully cancelled due to rain, how your bet is settled depends on the specific rules for that market. Generally, if enough overs have not been bowled, the bet is voided and your stake is returned. Check the terms and conditions for the exact rules.

Both BPL and IPL are T20 format tournaments, so the core betting markets are the same. However, with BPL it is easier to follow the performance of Bangladeshi cricketers directly, and you are likely to know more about local teams' statistics. IPL franchises are made up of players from different countries, which means there is more variety in the markets.
